It’s Shark Tank but with high school entrepreneurs. It’s Pitch Night 2023! On Thursday, May 4th, six Alamo Heights HS Business Incubator teams will pitch their business concepts to a panel of judges who will award more than $20,000 in prize money. A livestream of the stage event begins at 6 p.m. Teams have spent the last year developing and refining a product or service and now seek seed money to kickstart the next phase of their entrepreneurial journey. Five finalists were previously selected to pitch their ideas on stage: Nosh, WarBands, Rising Chef, Bandzy, and Refilament. A sixth Wild Card team will also be invited to join them: Package Protect, Akro Hat, Clean Coast Co., Light Right, or Hat Daddy. The Wild Card teams will be stationed on the first floor leading to the Auditorium foyer beginning at 5 p.m. in hopes of earning votes from attendees who will collectively choose the final team. Through the Business Incubator program, an innovative elective course, students have the opportunity to create and fully develop their own product or service. Entrepreneurs and business experts serve as volunteer coaches and mentors, guiding student teams along with foundational business topics such as ideation, minimum viable product, marketing, and finance.
